Kelly and Michael

Our dear friends, Kelly and Michael, are leaving town. I could not let them leave town without finally giving them a photo album of the pictures I took of them at their wedding…three years ago. Yeah, three years. Procrastination, I think, is my middle name.  Sorry Kelly. Sorry Michael.

So, over the past two weekends, I spent a lot of time sifting through photos. I created a 16×9 video slideshow of the pictures I selected, and burned that to DVD. Below is a link to a 4×3 version of the video. It’s 50M, so make sure you have an appropriate internet connection. I also created a web photo album using the same pictures.

[Edit: 8/14/2015] Uploaded the video to YouTube, finally.

Kelly and Michael

Kelly, Michael, I hope you enjoy the video and the pictures. We’ll miss you. Good luck!

Truffles, CKC Registration

Sent off Truffles’ CKC registration papers..here’s her registration picture and some of Truffles’ other pictures from the photo session. Glamour shots? Backdrop: picture matting. Lighting: pendulum lamps on the breakfast bar, ceiling fan light, wet bar light, and camera flash.

Halloween, 2008

No Halloween party at home this year. Instead, we packed up the car, and went camping about two hours south of Atlanta. Truffles came along, and enjoyed herself, although she barked more than she normally does. It was a bit chilly at night, especially Friday. Saturday was warmer. Alcohol may have contributed to that cozy, warm feeling.  🙂

We go to a private campground in Georgia. The campground had a tent decoration contest, so we also included some of our Halloween decorations as we packed the car for our trip. We didn’t win…but had fun setting things up.

Check out our 2008 Halloween camping trip with pictures from our campsite and some of other tent and RV sites.

Halloween

Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner. We just HAD to get Truffles a costume.

After a lot of coaxing, treats, peanut butter, and many pictures later, here she is!

Even more Truffles pix…

Need a fresh fix of Truffles pix? Here’s her latest album.

Truffles2

Truffles went to Lake Lanier for the first time. The water was a bit chilly for her, but she had a good time, and we kept her safe with her doggie life vest.

Another first, Truffles went to the dog park at Piedmont Park. This was her first time meeting other doggies. She loves to chase other dogs, but doesn’t like being chased. She still had a good time meeting other dogs.

Finally, Truffles made an appearance at the Atlanta Pet Rescue’s benefit at Mezzo: Yuppies for Puppies.

Picture Overload

I’ve about 9 DVDs of digital photos that I made. There are a few scanned 35mm rolls included, but either way, its a ton of pictures–upwards of 24,000. Managing them can be a nightmare!

One of my biggest problems is that I shoot so many pictures, it’s nearly impossible for me to process them to post to an album within any reasonable amount of time. I’m revamping my process so that I can not only manage things going forward, but so I can also take care of those many neglected pictures that are waiting for me to attend to them.

Over the past three days I quickly looked through all 24,000 pictures, pulling items with specific subjects. I spotted many duplicates–where I downloaded from camera the same images more than once and gave them different names, and also came across pictures I forgot I had taken, and that need to make it into an album.

So, what’s your digital photo workflow look like?

Truffles

Truffles is our new pet Chihuahua!

Truffles

She’s eight weeks old, and weighs just under two pounds! We got Truffles on Saturday, June 7th, 2008. Today, she had her first vet checkup, and she came through with flying colors. Kevin had to wrestle Truffles away from the staff. After her visit to the vet, Truffles made a visit to my office, where she met 8-10 of my co-workers. Some wanted to take her home.  😉

UPDATE 7/22/08: I added new pictures to her existing album–take a look at how much she’s grown!

Atlanta Pride 2008

Atlanta Pride was held over July 4th weekend this year, instead of at Piedmont Park. Due to drought conditions and the subsequent watering restrictions, no major events were held at Piedmont Park, since it takes a lot of water to get the grass to recover from such major events. Instead, Pride was held at the Atlanta Civic Center–a lot of asphalt, and hot sun.

Saturday, we visited the Pride Market, and watched a few concerts, most notably the performances by Josh Zuckerman, God-Des & She, and Three5Human.

On Sunday, while we were waiting for the parade to start, a horrendous thunderstorm passed over us. With 40-odd other parade watchers, we all huddled close to a building that had an overhang to shield us from the rain. We waited patiently for the worst to pass so we could make it to our car to go home, expecting that there was no way the parade was going to proceed with the downpour and lightning.

As the rain let up, we were ecstatic to see the police escort that precedes the parade–yay! While it continued to drizzle for most of the parade, the brave marchers put on a great show. The rain receded, and by the end of the parade, clear skies finished out the rest of Atlanta Pride, 2008.

You’ll need to be in one of my circles on Google+ to be able to view. So, if you’re not there yet, head to Google+ to join. Then you can look me up at http://davidandkevin.com/david+ to be added to one of my circles.
