I was aghast that I didn’t see anything on the news about this, so I’m going to play news reporter… 🙂
Around 7:15PM Saturday evening, September 26th, 2009, a falling tree took out power lines along Lenox Road, near the prestigious Buckhead condominium neighborhood, Lenox Heights. One resident reported hearing a loud crash and witnessing sparks flying as the tree crashed, bringing down at least one power pole and turning Lenox Road into a dark, one mile stretch of road, reaching from the condo community towards Lenox Mall, reaching as far as the Metropolitan.
Luckily, Metropolitan residents were without power for only a brief 45 minutes. Unfortunately for residents at Lenox Heights, power was out until approximately 8:30 AM Sunday morning, as power crews worked to restore power.
Kevin and David, two residents at Lenox Heights, made the most of situation with their cute Chihuahua dog, Truffles. “We were about to make chicken nuggets and fries when the power went out. We ended up playing Uno by a camping lantern that we keep on-hand for just these situations, listened to music on the laptop until the battery died, and made sandwiches for dinner before heading to bed around midnight. Power came on with a loud bang around 8:30 this morning.”
