St Patrick’s Day

For the past few years, my husband and I have had this little tradition. On St Patrick’s day we have a somewhat “traditional” Irish dinner: corned beef, roasted cabbage, Irish soda bread, and, of course, green beer.

I’ve been buying the soda bread at Whole Foods. Last year, they ran out and we had to do without. Yesterday, I stopped by the store and they didn’t have any. Again.

Unsure if they were going to have any by the weekend, I looked up a soda bread recipe on the web.
I made a batch, and it was awesome.

It was way easy. Our KitchenAid stand up mixer doesn’t see much action, so it got a five minute workout. I didn’t use orange zest nor currants. But it came out great and I can’t wait to serve it to our friends who are coming over for dinner.
