The tree is done for this year. Yeah, it’s not even thanksgiving yet…
Here’s a set of photos from the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Scarecrows and Fest-of-Ale from 10/24! The garden was very crowded and the drink lines were long. Beer selection was terrific, however. We ended up in line only once, but got two beers each so we wouldn’t have to wait in line again. 🙂

its official…after 20 years of togetherness, we have officially tied the knot.
we met back in 1993–moved in together after a month and bought a house within a year of that. got dog (katie) to go with the cat (delilah). got two more cats (kricket and kleo). bought a condo. got another dog (truffles) after the other pets had passed.
when new york passed the marriage equality act in 2011, we knew we had to get married in new york. we had thought we could make it happen on our 20th anniversary (april 2013), but things just wouldn’t come together.
just about a month ago, some friends wanted to visit new york and we decided it would be a fun trip to go along. while planning the trip, we said to each other that we needed to take advantage of the trip and get married.
friday, we waited two hours for our marriage license. we held our ceremony in central park’s strawberry fields at 4:30pm today, Saturday, September 21, 2013. a crowd of people gathered and then cheered for us when it was done. I cried. it was awesome.
a gay couple from Britain congratulated us and said they couldn’t wait for marriage to be legal in Britain.
a straight couple from California said this was the best event they have seen in new york.
a woman sitting on a bench gave me two thumbs up as we left.
so happy. so proud.
Maria and Steve got married!
Here are pictures from last night’s celebration.

Although she’s already been married for several weeks now, the girls got together to throw her a bachelorette party. While Kevin and I didn’t make it to the pole dancing lessons and didn’t go out to the final club destination, we did enjoy dinner with the gals at RA Sushi.

Each year, the Atlanta Botanical Garden features an event with scarecrows around Halloween. This year, I didn’t make a big production of the event, opting to use my cell phone for pictures instead.
Here they are.

I was shopping at Bed, Bath, & Beyond the other day, and came across this small digital scanner. For some time, I’ve been wanting to get something that could scan negatives. I’ve been looking for something much less than $100, especially since once I’m done scanning the negatives, I’ve no use for the scanner any more.
I came across this Pandigital scanner. It was originally $100, but marked down to $50. I snapped it up. It scans up to a 6 frame negative at a time to an SD card. You don’t even have to hook it up to a PC. You can then transfer the images from the card to a PC.
It only scans at 1200dpi. Not great. But the images come out at 1632×1056. Some of the images look a bit squished, which is possibly due to negatives not being completely flat. For the price, I’m very happy. Over the past few days I’ve scanned nearly 800 frames. The resulting images are between 150-350k.
It will also scan slides and printed pix, up to 5×7 in size.
EDIT:
Ok, I’ve used this thing for a while longer. I’ve changed my mind on this piece-of-crap. It has been dropping frames. I thought at first that it was having a problem with strips of negatives that only have two frames on it. But last night, I repeatedly scanned the same film strips–sometimes the frames would capture…sometimes they wouldn’t. Out of 24 frames, 13 were missing.
This thing is going back.
